Pro-Life Union: PA State Rep. Brian Sims’ Harassment of Pro-Lifers “Outrageous and Unacceptable”

Pennsylvania State Rep. Posts Videos Taunting Woman and Teenage Girls Praying outside Philadelphia Planned Parenthood

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.—Two videos posted by Democratic Pennsylvania State Representative Brian Sims have gone viral and received national attention. One video depicts Rep. Sims spewing hateful language toward an older woman who is peacefully praying outside Planned Parenthood in Philadelphia. The other video shows three teenage girls and a mother praying outside the same Planned Parenthood location on another day with Rep. Sims saying he’ll give $100 to any viewers who can dox the girls’ information.

The Pro-Life Union of Greater Philadelphia ( is appalled at Rep. Sims’ actions in these particular videos. “Rep. Brian Sims’ videotaped behavior is disturbing for the public to view,” said Tom Stevens, President and CEO of Pro-Life Union of Greater Philadelphia. “The fact this elected official had the audacity to harass people for simply exercising their First Amendment rights is outrageous and unacceptable.”

Numerous conservative, pro-life figures, such as Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, Abby Johnson and Lila Rose, have also reacted to these videos. Sen. Cruz tweeted, “Hateful, angry Dem state rep videoed himself offering $100 bounty for the identities of three teenage girls praying outside Planned Parenthood. These young girls showed more maturity than this self-described ‘college football captain.’ Will Dem Party condemn this abuse?”

In response to Rep. Sims’ actions, the father of two teenage girls shown in one of Rep. Sims’ videos started a GoFundMe page to challenge people to contribute toward the pro-life movement, raising more money than the $100 Rep. Sims offered for his daughters’ identification. Within the past 24 hours, it has raised nearly $10,000 for the Pro-Life Union.

“Looking to the present and future, we can only hope and pray that each member of society treats all individuals with compassion and respect, and recognizes the dignity of all living persons inside and outside the womb,” said Tom Stevens.

On May 7, 2019, the Republican Party of Pennsylvania distributed a news release requesting a criminal investigation into Rep. Sim’s recent conduct, which potentially violates a number of state and federal criminal statutes.
