Pro-Life Union of Greater Philadelphia’s 38th Annual Stand Up For Life Dinner attracted more than 1,200 individuals across the region on Sunday, November 24, 2019, to reflect on pro-life efforts and to share goals for the future. This special evening featured a keynote speech from Rachel Guy, considered a “medical miracle” who has used the reality of her own story to advocate for the unborn. Dr. Monique Ruberu, pro-life OB/ GYN and Pro-Life Union Board Member, also spoke about an experience from medical training which helped to form her pro-life conscience.
This year’s award recipients include:
- Barbara Rose—James D. Kelly Pro-Life Pioneer Award
- The Garecht Family (Ashley, Joe, Haley and Emily) and Abby Griswold—St. John Paul II “Be Not Afraid” Award
- Karly Brown—John and Harriet Stanton Young Leader Award
The Pro-Life Union commends these individuals who have demonstrated pro-life activism through their leadership, courage, and commitment to the movement.
Abby Griswold’s courageous response to bullying in the public square by PA State Rep. Brian Sims led her to say this about accepting the St. John Paul II ‘Be Not Afraid’ Award: “What started as an unexpected and unwanted confrontation with an elected official attacking our right to peacefully protest, God has used as good to highlight the importance of being a prayerful presence at the clinics. I hope this inspires more of my peers to get actively involved in speaking up for the right to life.”
The Pro-Life Union truly appreciates all men, women, families, students, children, churches, schools, member organizations, and fellow friends who gathered together for this inspirational, educational, and motivational event.
